I wanted to take a moment to share the final product from the cape that was shaved in the video. Yes this is the actual cape that you see lying on the table in the still photos as well as the shaving part of “Mastering the Fleshing Machine A-Z PLUS”.
This early season, North Carolina Whitetail was harvested by a local eight year old boy. This was his first buck and he was grinning ear to ear when he and his dad picked it up. I’m not sure which one was more excited.
A properly shaved and tanned skin is so easy to mount. There is no tugging, pulling, fighting and cussing the skin when you are fitting it to the form. And once dry, your shrinkage and pulling is limited when using a high quality hide paste which leaves you with minimal finish work.
Also the ears are clean and crisp along the edges and hair patterns lay into place when properly turned and prepped.
